Our Albuin Schöpf was a true visionary and doer when he started building Pension Schöpf in 1959 – despite his parents’ initial doubts. You have to know: Back then, the construction required a lot of courage and determination. He was also one of the first people in Gries to see a great opportunity in tourism and campaigned for the construction of the ski lift.
Real hosts by nature.
Pension Schöpf opens in 1961. Three years later, Albuin marries Brunhilde and leads the house into the future with her. As a place of tranquillity with a connection to nature and people. In 1977, a major remodelling with an indoor swimming pool took place. And in 2006 the hotel is extended – with a dining room and wellness area.

2011 sees the handover to the next generation. The youngest daughter Gudrun takes over the management of the hotel with her husband Edwin. 2016 sees a further remodelling with a complete renovation. The hotel is further developed and son Alexander and daughter Johanna become an important part of the “Family Business”. A family that works together and collaborates: from reception to the kitchen.

Our lives take place in the hotel.
And that’s how we live in the hotel – with the guests. Son Alexander and daughter Johanna on the second and third floors. Hosts Edwin and Gudrun on the first floor. This closeness connects us – as a family and with our guests.
You have to love your "job" as a hotelier!
Edwin and Gudrun are certainly right about that. Because it takes a lot of passion and heart and soul to run a hotel. With constant development – over generations. A real “family business”” in other words.
